Non-toxic Makeup Series
Concealers are created to hide imperfections and even the appearance of skin tone. While I think you look perfect with no makeup at all, I can understand that you don’t want a rogue pimple or a broken capillary to be the center of attention on your face. Enter my favorite non-toxic concealers that won’t compromise the health of your skin.
The natural makeup revolution is here
We know that the brands we used growing up are full of toxic ingredients that made our makeup stay all day, but can have lasting negative effects on our skin and body. Thankfully, there are brands pioneering forward to healthier options and cleaner cosmetics.
I am a holistic licensed Esthetician that believes you should never have to be scared of what you put on your skin. Ingredients lists can be misleading and so I’ve spent the last few months finding the best non-toxic makeup products for you. In this post these concealers had to fall into these three categories:
- No toxic ingredients- ever. No hormone disruptors, no organ toxicity (reproductive or otherwise), no synthetic fragrance and preferably ingredients derived from nature.
- Not harsh on your skin. Everyone’s skin is different, and I’ve listed ingredients that may be trouble for certain skin types.
- It has to work. I have done makeup artistry in the past and understand the importance of makeup’s efficiency. I’ve provided various details on coverage, opaqueness, etc. depending on what it is you are looking for the product to do for your skin.
Unfortunately, many times articles similar to this one contain affiliate links where the publisher is being paid for their promotion of the brand. This article contains NO affiliate links because I wanted to be able to take a 100% objective view of these non-toxic concealers.
Also, just because I recommend a certain product from a brand does NOT mean that I recommend every product from that brand. There are very few brands that completely contain clean ingredients and if I didn’t post about a product I probably did not like the ingredients list.
Companies are constantly changing ingredients. I will try to keep this post relevant, but if you notice a change in formula or have a concern about an ingredient please email me ([email protected]) or fill out a contact form so I can update the post.

Let’s get to it!
TIPS: To begin, this non-toxic concealer is best blended with a clean warm finger or warm moistened makeup blending sponge.
PRO: This is a cream formula with medium buildable coverage. Good for under eye and evening tone. May be able to cover dark spots and breakouts. Vapour beauty offers a variety of shade options. This non-toxic concealer comes in a tube for easy application. Free from coconut oil for those of you with acne triggered by that ingredient.
FAVORITE INGREDIENT: Wildcrafted Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense) Gum- rich in anti-inflammatory properties. Also, the first ingredient of this non-toxic concealer is sunflower oil, a balanced thinner oil that won’t leave your skin sticky or clog pores.
CON: Alternatively, for dryer skin you may see it settle into texture on breakouts a little bit.
Pacifica beauty $16
TIPS: For this non-toxic concealer, use a warm moistened makeup blending sponge or synthetic stippling brush.
PRO: This is a liquid formula that feels creamy when applying. For a liquid concealer, a little goes a long way. Works better as a highlighter or for under eye use. Affordable. Available at Target. Coconut oil free, utilizes coconut water.
FAVORITE INGREDIENT: Withania somnifera (indian ginseng) root extract- promotes healthy skin cells and high in antioxidants.
CON: Unfortunately, there are definitely not enough shade choices and this brand needs to work to be more inclusive. Also, this non-toxic concealer can be a little drying if you try to build up coverage or use too much. There are packing issues with this tube. When you close the lid, some makeup may come out the sides of the lid, exercise caution.
Un “Cover-up” (22)*
RMS Beauty $36
TIPS: When applying, use warm fingertips and a little goes a long way. Expensive, so color match with a sample before hand.
PRO: Extremely buildable high coverage. Contains coconut oil so feels very creamy and melts easily on the fingertips. This non-toxic concealer is perfect for any use (dark spots, under eye, etc.).
FAVORITE INGREDIENT: Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter- soothing, hydrating and stimulates collagen production.
CON: Although, this concealer has a stickier feel from the coconut oil. Furthermore, coconut oil may aggravate acne prone users (it’s the first ingredient).
Real Purity $24.99
TIPS: First, grab yourself a sample or purchase the duo shade. The colors online are not quite accurate and in order to not come off too yellow or too pink, make sure to test first.
PRO: This non-toxic concealer is a dryer creamy formula best for oilier skin types. It has a satin finish and provides medium to full coverage.
FAVORITE INGREDIENT: Kaolin (Clay)- anti-caking and draws out debris, especially helpful when applying to breakouts.
CON: Not enough shade choices and online shades do not translate well.
My two cents
I thoroughly believe that you should feel good in your skin even with no makeup and that’s why I designed my skincare line. I know that the journey to feeling lovely without makeup is a long one filled with up’s and down’s. Alternatively, I think makeup should be available to enhance your natural beauty without compromising your skin. I hope these products bring you to a place where you can utilize makeup as an option and not a necessity. Please reach out with any questions you may have or comment below.
