Non-toxic makeup series: part 3
Cheek products are those little accents that can either finish off a whole look or be worn alone to enhance a dewy natural look. The non-toxic cheek products I found are broken down into blush, bronzer and highlighter. While they may not always be applied to the cheek area, they can be which is why I chose this title. They vary in medium from cream, to powder and one is even a tackier liquid. All of them are made with non-toxic ingredients and add the perfect hint of color or reflection no matter the look.
The natural makeup revolution is here
We know that the brands we used growing up are full of toxic ingredients that made our makeup stay all day, but can have lasting negative effects on our skin and body. Thankfully, there are brands pioneering forward to healthier options and cleaner cosmetics.
I am a holistic licensed Esthetician that believes you should never have to be scared of what you put on your skin. Ingredients lists can be misleading and so I’ve spent months finding the best non-toxic makeup products for you. In this post these cheek products had to fall into these three categories:
- No toxic ingredients- ever. No hormone disruptors, no organ toxicity (reproductive or otherwise), no fragrance and preferably ingredients derived from nature.
- Not harsh on your skin. Everyone’s skin is different, and I’ve listed ingredients that may be trouble for certain skin types.
- It has to work. I worked doing makeup artistry years back and understand the importance of makeup’s efficiency. I’ve provided various details on coverage, opaqueness, etc. depending on what it is you are looking for the product to do for your skin.
Many times articles similar to this one contain affiliate links where the publisher is being paid for their promotion of the brand. This article contains NO affiliate links because I wanted to be able to take a 100% objective view of these non-toxic cheek products.
Also, just because I recommend a certain product from a brand does NOT mean that I recommend every product from that brand. There are very few brands that completely contain clean ingredients and if I didn’t post about a product I probably did not like the ingredients list.
Furthermore, Companies are constantly changing ingredients. I will try to keep this post relevant, but if you notice a change in formula or have a concern about an ingredient please email me ([email protected]) or fill out a contact form so I can update the post.

The anywhere cream multistick (sweetheart) *
Au Naturale $35
TIPS: First, this is a multi-use non-toxic cheek product. Check out post on lips and the upcoming post on eyes to see how I prefer to use this product.
PRO: This is a highly pigmented lovely bold color. Does not blend away, so this product is best for people that really like the look of blush and want to accentuate their cheeks.
FAVORITE INGREDIENT: Organic Lavandula Officinalis (Lavender Oil)- soothing and calming oil.
CON: Alternatively, this is not for people that like sheerer blush. I would describe it as a bold look that cannot be blended down even with a moist makeup sponge.
Fruit pigmented punk princess palette (sold out blush)
100% pure $48
TIPS: For the best application, use a fluffy brush beginning on the apples of the cheeks and moving towards the temples.
PRO: The color is pigmented, bright and blendable depending on your preference.
FAVORITE INGREDIENT: Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Seed Oil- cooling and moisturizing for acne prone skin (exactly why it’s in my Rose hip + Green Tea Cleanser).
CON: No cons, this product is wonderful.
P.S.- “sold out” is the name of the shade not the status of availability 🙂
RMS beauty $36
TIPS: This is a multi-use product, see the lip products post for more details!
PRO: The color is pigmented and there are a variety of unique shade choices.
FAVORITE INGREDIENT: Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter- rich in vitamin E and reduces skin irritation.
CON: This is a dryer formula, so be sure to warm on your fingers or use a moist beauty sponge to get a dewier application. Also, this product contains coconut oil and castor oil so be aware for acne prone skin and those with sensitivities to those oils.
Luminous creme bronzer stick (latte) *
Au Naturale $35
TIPS: Check out eye blog post comping soon to see how else I used this non-toxic product.
PRO: This non-toxic makeup product is buildable for sheer to deep application. One of the best parts is that is non-drying. Leaves a non-glittery sheen.
FAVORITE INGREDIENT: Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla Wax)- moisturizing and helps it’s blendability.
CON: Alternatively, must blend well using a moist makeup sponge to make sure the pigment is not too streaky.
Solar translucent bronzer (spicy 223) *
TIPS: Apply this non-toxic cheek product right under the cheek bone with warm clean fingers, blend with clean flat buffer foundation brush. It appears pretty dark at first, but opaqueness can be adjusted through blending.
PRO: I found this product to be blend-able and buildable. It melts to the touch and leaves a non-sparkly highlight when it hits the light.
FAVORITE INGREDIENT: Organic Punica Granatum (Pomegranate Oil)- promotes healthy skin cells and encourages good elasticity.
CON: But, if you have acne prone skin sensitive to castor oil, be careful around this product.
RMS beauty $38
TIPS: Applies a little intense, but this non-toxic cheek product can be blended out to create the perfect highlight. Apply to the high point of the face: top of cheek bones, brow bone and cupid’s bow.
PRO: This highlighter gives the perfect reflection of light without being too sparkly.
FAVORITE INGREDIENT: This is a low ingredient product with only seven ingredients. Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil is probably my favorite and least favorite because while it’s a wonderful gentle moisturizing ingredient, it also can irritate acne prone skin.
CON: Beware, if your skin is aggravated by coconut oil or castor oil avoid this product. Tacky in texture, but will blend in when warmed on the fingers.
Fruit pigmented punk princess palette (acoustic luminizer)
100% pure $48
TIPS: I found this non-toxic cheek product to be easily applied with your fingers or a brush.
PRO: I loved how this beautifully adds some shimmer without being too glittery or overwhelming. If blends out as well to even just be a light reflector.
FAVORITE INGREDIENT: Vaccinium Macrocarpon Fruit (Cranberry)- rich in antioxidants and improves skin’s elasticity.
CON: On occasion, there’s a bigger sparkly glittery bit, but it always brushes off easily.
My two cents
I thoroughly believe that you should feel good in your skin even with no makeup and that’s why I designed my skincare line. I know that the journey to feeling lovely without makeup is a long one filled with up’s and down’s. Alternatively, I think makeup should be available to enhance your natural beauty without compromising your skin. I hope these non-toxic cheek products help bring you to a place where you can utilize makeup as an option and not a necessity. Please reach out with any questions you may have or comment below.
