Frequently Asked Questions- lashes

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are individual synthetic lashes adhered to each individual natural lash to make lashes appear fuller and longer.

How long does an eyelash appointment take?

For your first appointment to get a full set of classic lash extensions it will take up to 2 hours. Each refill appointment can take up to  an hour.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

It depends on how quickly your natural lashes shed. On average we lose 3-5 lashes a day, and the lash extensions will shed with your natural lashes. You should make an appointment for a refill about 2-3 weeks after your first appointment. Depending on how your lashes are lasting I can recommend how often you’ll need to get refills. Lash cycles can change with health and hormone imbalances.

Can I wear mascara or curl my lash extensions?

You should not wear mascara or curl when you have eyelash extensions. With the fullness and curl of the eyelash extensions, most clients don’t feel the need.

Who should not get eyelash extensions?

You may not be a good candidate for eyelash extensions if you:

  • sleep on your face or wear a sleep mask
  • rub your eyes a lot
  • are very attached to using mascara

What are eyelash extensions made of?

While there are eyelash extensions out there made from many different materials, the lashes I use are made by Borboleta and they are faux mink lashes. They are made from synthetic yarn fibers, have a natural look and feel and have a matte black finish.

Will eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?

I make sure that the diameter of the eyelash extensions isn’t damaging your natural  lashes when I remove outgrown lash extensions. The diameter and length can be adjusted to keep your natural lashes healthy and strong.

How should I arrive to my appointment?

Please arrive eye make up free, you can bring headphones if you’d like and capable of laying still during your appointment.

Can I get my lashes wet?

After the first 24 hours you can get your lash extensions wet.

How do I maintain my lash extensions?

You should gently wash them with an oil free lash cleanser or just water daily and brush them with a clear mascara wand. Do not pick or pull on your lash extensions, don’t use eye makeup that you cannot fully remove, do not get oil on lashes (it will breakdown adhesive) and re-book fills every 2-3 weeks.

What about irritations?

The adhesive used never touches your skin because the eyelash extension is actually placed around 1mm away from the base of your lash line. Sometimes small irritations can be caused while working around the eye though. Irritations should last no more than 48 hours. Contact me if irritations persist.
